Department of Economics

The history of teaching of economics in this college is as old as the college itself. Till previous session, the subject of Economics only used to be a part of curriculum in the subject of Commerce and was not taught as a core subject. However, introduction of B.A (Hons.) Economics in this college is the outcome of the recommendations made by the NAAC Peer Team during its visit to the college in 2017. Since then the college has been working consistently in this direction and finally succeeded in framing a very robust and relevant course structure after a series of consultations and deliberations with the experts from academia and industry. The knowledge of economics enables one to understand the subtle intricacies of the ever-changing competitive world that we live in seeking to meet the growing requirements and to enhance employment avenues.
